Doug and his store have both been staples in the New Braunfels community. Doug took a lot of pride in New Braunfels and shared vivid memories of his passion for the band and lifelong friendships he established at New Braunfels High School. During that time he developed his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial background by helping his parents at their family owned business, H&H Fabric Store. After high school he branched out to start his own T-Shirt business. Doug started the Ducky's business in 1978, which became the store so many locals and tourists have come to know and love. Doug treated his employees like family and loved to tell stories to the customers that visited his store. Doug was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer two days before Christmas of 2016. On July 15, 2017 he peacefully passed away in his home. His two daughters, Rachael Sandahl and Renee Nalls are excited and honored to continue the success and legacy of Ducky's.
Renee was born and raised in Schertz, Texas, home of the mighty Buffaloes. She graduated with a Business Management Degree at Texas State University. She lives in New Braunfels with her husband, Jimmie and one year old daughter, Skylar. Renee worked at Prosperity Bank and developed a wide range of experience from customer service representative to being promoted in consumer lending. She enjoys being involved and volunteering with the Comal County Fair and Wurstfest every year. With losing her grandmother and father to pancreatic cancer, she enjoys volunteering at the 5K Purplestride in running the Shop Purple in memory of her father and entertaining the kids at the Kids Zone. Renee also has a deep passion for animals in making sure any stray finds a nice home, including hers.
Rachael is also the owner of Steps Realty, LLC with her husband, Chris in New Braunfels. She was born and raised in Schertz, Texas and now resides in New Braunfels with her husband and daughter, Caylee and son, Cameron. She graduated with a Business Management Degree at Texas State University. Before fulfilling her life long dream of owning her own company, Rachael worked in Real Estate as a business development rep in the title industry. Rachael is not only accomplished in her career but also in her community. She was the San Antonio Event Coordinator for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in 2012-2015 and in 2016 she switched her role to Media Relations Chair. In that timespan she has taken their main event, The Purple Stride, to record breaking numbers while earning national award nominations for her contributions. In 2016 she received the Purplestride Chair of the Year Award. Rachael possesses passion for her family, business and community.
